About This Course

Coaching is a radical departure from traditional ideas of leadership that encourage employees to be dependent on a leader to define what they do, when they do it, and how they do it. Coaching is based on the premise that employees come to the table with an abundance of ideas, energy, and creativity. In this workshop, participants will learn how effective coaching can allow an employee to tap their own resources, essentially benefiting themselves and the organization.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand coaching in the business world: Its evolution and the reasons it is so important now
  • Define coaching and distinguish coaching from mentoring or counseling
  • Clarify the roles of the coach and the coachee
  • Know key do’s and don’ts of coaching
  • Apply coaching concepts to individuals and groups
  • Select appropriate situations for coaching
  • Identify four conditions that greatly increase the likelihood of successful coaching
  • Provide a practical structure to any coaching situation
  • Practice four absolutely essential skills for coaching
