TrainingPros Microlearning Competition


Are you a microlearning guru? If so, we‘d like to invite you to participate in our Microlearning Competition. TrainingPros has partnered with Teresa Davenport, President and Founder at Davenport Design & Development, to provide a platform for eLearning professionals to engage and learn from peers and learning leaders in the industry. The microlearning competition evolved from TrainingPros’ recent webinar – “Microlearning: How It’s Done,” also presented by Teresa Davenport.

This competition presents a unique opportunity for eLearning professionals to showcase their knowledge and expertise in the latest trends and tools in microlearning. Please see additional details below on how to participate

Microlearning Competition Details

Here are the details to participate:

  • Start Date: Tuesday, May 15, 2018
  • End Date: Friday, June 15, 2018  DATE EXTENDED!
  • Announcement of winners: Friday, June 22, 2018
  • Judges: Teresa Davenport, Founder and President, Davenport Design & Development, Andy Petroski, Program & Product Management, Advanced ID & Curriculum Design, Serious Games, and Emerging Technologies Leader and Dr. Robin Colson, Director of Research and Evaluation, Florida Virtual Campus

Submission Guidelines

Each submission should meet the following criteria in order to qualify for the competition:

1. Max 3 minutes in length

2. Each submission should include:

  • Applicant name, email, and phone number
  • Desired performance outcome
  • Target audience: industry/organization type (e.g., manufacturing, healthcare, government, non-profit), type of employee(s) – job role(s), typical demographic (e.g., age range or generation, if high percentage is of a specific gender, which gender?; location of employees (US, global, other – specify)
  • List of apps/software/media used
  • Length

3.Submissions will be judged for:

  • Conformance to microlearning max length
  • Innovative use of media (e.g., graphics, onscreen text, video, audio, interactions, etc.)
  • Creativity
  • Conformance to stated performance objective
  • Appropriate for the target audience

Submission instructions

Two options to submit your microlearning project:

We will have 3 total winners:

  • First place: highest score in all areas
  • Second place: creativity
  • Second place: best ID strategy (conformance to performance outcome, best match for target audience, best match for industry/organization)


Grand prize winner receives one year subscription or license to choice of the following:

  • One microlearning development platform: (select one)
    Articulate 360 – one year subscription (up to* a $999 value) OR
    Adobe Captivate 9 license** (or most current version) (up to a $1,099 value) OR
    GoAnimate Premium (a $649 value)
  • AND your choice of:
    Shutterstock – up to 50 images per month for one year (a $1,200 value) OR – unlimited music selections for web-based projects (a $600 value)

* “Up to” means that if a winner already has a license or subscription for their chosen product, we will cover the renewal, but the value is lower.

**Captivate is a two-year license

Second place creativity winner receives:

  • 1 year membership to ATD (up to a $259 value) AND
    GoAnimate Premium (a $649 value) OR
    Six months of Shutterstock images (a $600 value)

Second place ID strategy winner receives:

  • 1 year membership to ATD (up to a $259 value) AND
    GoAnimate Premium (a $649 value) OR
    Six months of Shutterstock images (a $600 value)
